RULES:
- TITLE: The title of the Society shall be ‘The Society of Lady Captains of Kent Golf Clubs.
- OBJECTIVE: To provide opportunities for friendly meetings, golfing and social.
- MEMBERSHIP: All past and present Lady Captains of Kent Golf Clubs and Kent County shall be eligible for membership. Any person so eligible desiring to be a member of the Society shall notify the Hon. Secretary in writing. Any member wishing to resign shall give notice in writing to the Hon. Secretary and such resignation shall take effect from the date of the next Annual General meeting of the Society but without prejudice to the liability to pay any arrears of subscription.
- MANAGEMENT: The management of the Society shall be vested in a Committee consisting of the Officers of the Society and not more than 8 other members. Any 6 of the Committee shall form a quorum for the conduct of business. The officers of the Society shall be the President, Captain, Vice-Captain, Hon Secretary and Hon Treasurer. The Committee shall have power to fill any casual vacancies arising among the Officers, or other members of the Committee and any members so chosen shall retire at the following Annual general Meeting, but shall be eligible as a candidate for election at such meeting.
- RETIREMENT & ELECTION OF COMMITTEE: The Officers and two other members of the Committee shall retire annually, the latter in order of seniority of election and, in the case of equal seniority, the order of retirement shall be settled by ballot. The Officers, other than the Captain, shall be eligible for re-election. The retiring Captain, shall be a member of the Committee for the following year , but thereafter shall not be eligible for election to the Committee for twelve months. The President who shall not serve for more than three consecutive years, and the Captain shall be nominated by the Committee for election at the Annual General Meeting. The Vice-Captain shall be nominated by a committee of Past Captains, and the reigning Vice-Captain be in attendance with no power to vote. The Hon. Secretary and Hon. Treasurer shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting. Nominations of members willing to fill other vacancies on the Committee shall be sent in writing duly proposed and seconded to the Hon, Secretary at least 28 days before the Annual General Meeting. In the event that the number of nominations exceeds the number of vacancies, election will be by ballot of the members present at the meeting, each member being entitled to vote for any number of the candidates not exceeding the number of vacancies.
- GENERAL MEETINGS: The Annual General Meeting of the Society shall be held in March each year. Each member shall receive at least 14 days notice of the meeting together with a copy of the audited accounts, but the fact that any member fails to receive due notice shall not invalidate the meeting. Any member wishing to move any resolution at the meeting shall give notice of the resolution in writing to the Hon. Secretary not less than 28 days prior to the meeting. The Committee may call an Extraordinary General Meeting and shall do so on receiving a letter of requisition signed by 12 or more members. The notice calling such meeting shall state precisely the purpose for which the meeting is called and no other business shall be transacted at such meeting. Each member shall receive at least 7 days notice of the meeting, but the fact that any member fails to receive due notice shall not invalidate the meeting. At any General meeting of the Society 20 members present shall form a quorum and no business shall be transacted unless such quorum of members is present. The Captain of the Society shall preside as Chairman at every General Meeting of the Society, but, in her absence or if she is unwilling to act, the members of the Committee present shall choose on of their members to be Chairman.
- SUBSCRIPTIONS: The subscription payable by members of the Society shall be £7 per year. The subscription for Non-playing Life Membership shall be £10. Subscriptions shall be due and payable on the First January in each year. A member who is in arrears in the payment of any subscription shall not be eligible to play in competitions or to vote at any meeting.
- ACCOUNTS AND AUDIT: The Committee of the Society shall cause true accounts to be kept in such manner and in respect of such matters as they shall decide and they shall submit such accounts once a year to be audited by an auditor to be appointed by them.
- ALTERATION TO RULES: No rule of the Society shall be amended or repealed and no new rule shall be made except by a resolution passed at a General Meeting of the Society by a majority of the members present and voting.
- DISSOLUTION: In the event of the Society ceasing to exist any funds remaining, after the satisfaction of all liabilities shall be used to further the cause of women’s golf and may be given to any person or organisation to be used for this purpose.
