2023 AGM
The 61st AGM was held at the Weald of Kent on Monday 6th March 2023. We had 120 lady members attending, wonderful to see so many.
Sue Batchelor was the retiring president and was thanked by the outgoing Captain for her three year term on committee and presented with a gift. Sue then welcomed the new President Ann Lake for her term in office. Then the changeover of Captains for 2023 from Kathie Mabberly to Sue Jones with the presentation of a gift to Kathie and thanks for a successful year.
The AGM was then followed by a lovely meal which everyone enjoyed. Our speaker this year was Jane Beedle from the Great British Bake Off and she had us all engrossed during her speech with many questions to follow. All about her journey from a 61-year-old to the Bake Off tent.
Jane very kindly baked a cake which was taken away by a very lucky lady Kay Barnard having her name pulled out randomly in a draw. Jane also made every lady attending two beautiful almond biscuits, which were delightful.
With thanks also going to Maggie Reeves from Chestfield for doing the letters of the Society displayed on the table.

Jenny Knight ( the incoming Captain) thanked Rebecca for a great year in leading the ladies through all of the matches against other counties and the Men Captains of Kent. Her calm, friendly manner made her easy to work with and she organised the Meetings efficiently, always presenting a beautiful prize table.
Jenny presented her with a pink rose plant called Princess Alexandra of Kent which she suggested that Rebecca could admire while she was relaxing in her garden!
Rebecca thanked all of the committee for working so hard and efficiently during the year and in particular thanked Chrissie Farley for serving 3 years. She had been a wonderful member of the committee.
Len Goodman spoke about his dancing life and then being recognised for his expertise as a judge of ballroom dancing. That was the attribute that got him the job on Strictly and subsequently his trips to America to judge their dancing programme too.
